Situated near Koggala, home of the famous stilt fishermen, it is ideally placed to visit Yala National Park for some safari or Galle city which is much closer at only 20 minutes tuk-tuk. With its impressive Dutch Fort, which The Fortress itself took some inspirtation from, Galle is a pocket of culture and style that you can explore, should you ever want to leave the peaceful surroundings of the hotel.

Whilst the new highway connecting Galle to Colombo is now open, cutting the journey time down to 2 hours, nothing beats arriving by seaplane. A majestic flight down the beautiful coastline brings you to within 15 minutes of the resort having had the most amazing panoramic view of the west coast. Ask us for details.

Touring & Exploring

The hotel is located very close to one of the turtle hatcheries and whale watching can be done from this coastline (March). Yala National Park, home of many leopards amongst elephents and other animals, is a 2 hour drive away and well worth visit for 1-2 days. We have some more excellent accommodation here.
