Costa Rica: where the nature is unbounded and adventure awaits.

A pair of scarlet macaws breaks out of the treetops and soars over a beach where the only tracks are those of last night’s nesting turtles. You ride your horse over the sands to a small stream where blue butterflies play over brilliant pink flowers. Sounds of jungle and surf are strangely intermingled. This is where rain forest and beach meet in Costa Rica’s Corcovado National Park, the day-glo tropical version of “Where the Wild Things Are.” But could any writer’s imagined fantasyland be as wondrous as this?

The Pacific Coast of Costa Rica is shaped like a giant crab with two great claws. Within this wide embrace lies a natural paradise so dazzling and diverse that it defies any adequate description. With 9,000 higher plant species, 850 bird species, hundreds of frogs and reptiles and 10 percent of all mammals on earth, today it is human visitors who find welcome refuge.

From the stunning volcanic peaks of Nicaragua down to the rustic scenery of Panama, Central America’s breathtaking beauty allows you to just sit, stand, lie or look in any direction and watch nature perform around you. Howler monkeys roam freely through the jungle canopy above while manta rays weightlessly glide through the waters below. Join us in a rare adventure of nature unbounded.

Star ClipperS are a fleet of 3 beautiful ships based on the old Tea Clippers. When the sails are at full mast there is something very majestic about these vessels and to have them as a luxury yacht for your enjoyment offers something totally unique in the cruising world. If you’re a keen sailor you can actually get involved with the sailing aspects.

For most of us it’s an opportunity to relax as you are taken to some of the most remote and inaccessible islands in Asia, which regular cruise ships would never get close to. At 115 metres in length carrying a maximum of 170 people, this is boutique cruising at its best.

Cabins

Accommodation comes in 6 categories, starting at the top of the tree with the Owners Cabin, a half moon suite in the stern of the ship. Complete with whirlpool bath and port hole views both sides and also in the ceiling for stargazing, this is the pinnacle of luxury in the Yacht cruising world.

Categories 1-6 are in ascending order with 1 being the best. These lead in cabins also boast a whirlpool bath with the rest all having a shower, being slightly smaller and with a different view or position. All cabins have are en-suite, are air-conditioned and have a TV/ DVD (not cat 6) plus wardrobe space. Most are outside cabins with sea views.

Dining

Dining on board any cruise ship these days is normally an immensely satisfying experience but on Star Clipper you’ll find the range of food on offer enhanced by the finesse and small touches made possible when catering for a smaller amount of passengers.

Continental breakfast is available with croissants, toasted English muffins or sweet Danish pastries and as you’re in the tropics you may can enjoy a large array of fresh local fruit. Otherwise indulge in a full English breakfast of crisp bacon, grilled sausage and omelettes cooked to order in the dining room. At lunch, a sumptuous buffet of seafood, salads and grilled favourites is laid out for you to savour.

If the day includes a stop at one of the private islands en-route, you might also be treated to a succulent outdoor barbecue on shore. When evening comes, the elegantly appointed dining room becomes the setting for the chef’s finest culinary presentations, designed to please the eye and the palate, complemented by a selection of equally fine wines.
