Rising majestically from the desert plains in western Rajasthan is the Mihir Garh, a fort palace of unequalled position and design. It provides a combination of stunning views, relaxation, incredible levels of accommodation and some activities around and nearby that wll really capture the essence of the area.

The fort is a dream realised for owners Sidarth and Rashmi who starting envisaging this unique project many years ago and spent many formulating it, constructing and decorating the interior with artefacts and furniture hand picked from various high quality artisans around India and beyond.

 

With only 9 Suites, the fort affords a level of space and service that is hard to achieve with larger properties and provides a haven for those seeking solitude and also adventure with amazing horse rides over the plains, desert safaris and visits to nearby villages.

Mihir Garh definitely comes within our top 3 experiences in Asia and we really encourage a visit for 3 nights + and if you are really looking to unwind, a 10-14 night stay would also be very suitable.

The 9 Suites are all huge in size, particularly the honeymoon suite which has to be the pick of the lot, whether on honeymoon or not.

 

All the interior fixtures and fittings were carefully chosen by the owners over many years as their dream took shape and became a reality. The result is a very unique and tasteful luxury space which has an assortment of unusual lamps, side tables and other antique artefacts.

 

The rooms all have a very large sitting room in an open plan, a luggage area and beautiful bathrooms with free standing roll top baths.

Outside, there is a large terrace for the ground floor rooms with a lovely plunge pool with uninterrupted views over the desert (although between August and February, it’s more likely to be green than the ochre of the desert sands.) All the upper floor rooms have a Jacuzzi in the bathroom to make up for the plunge pool, and a large balcony. The Honeymoon Suite still manages a plunge pool despite being on the 1^st floor.

 

The Black Buck Suite is a 2 bedroom unit for families.

The experiences offered in the surrounding countryside are really the crowning factor this property is able to boast, more than others, since the owners are intrinsically linked to all the local villages for miles around since their forefathers were in charge of these villages and looked after them very well. Mihir Garh would be a stand alone stay of 7-14 nights or as part of a greater tour of Rajasthan. A 10 night stay would cost c. £3,000 p/p including all fligths and transfers from the UK.
