raas jodhpur

Star rating

rajasthan

Within the old Jodhpur city walls, in the shadow of Meherangarh Fort, lies a courtyard surrounded by 200 years old stone walls and buildings. The terracotta sandstone colours reflect the warmth of summer sun and give a perfect example of the old city houses. Sympathetically added on to these older buildings are some new ones, blending in seamlessly with the ancient.

The result is the perfect city boutique residence in Jodhpur, offering a fantastic location and view, and top end 5* luxury. In winter you can easily climb up the ramparts to the old fort in the early morning, a fantastic way to start the day.

End your day around the corner at the boho “Pal Haveli” for a rooftop drink and a great local meal with the fort in front of you and the sounds of the old town around you . If you’re lucky, the Haveli’s owner Mahesh, may sit and regale you with stories of his forefathers who have owned this place for centuries.

Rooms: 39 total.

The 39 rooms comprise of 4 Garden Rooms, 28 Luxury Rooms and 7 Suites, including 4 Duplex. The more modern rooms are in a block near the reception area and a new block who’s outer walls border the cities streets brings you very close to the buzz of the old town when you fling open your shutters, not to mention an even closer view of the mesmerising fort.

The suites in the original part of the construction have many unique features and a wonderful bathroom with a large terrazzo tub in its own room with shutters opening onto a rooftop terrace.

The Duplex Suites have a particularly unique feature in that the beds face the balcony and are pushed quite far forward and being on the 3rd floor it means you wake up for a full view of the fort. The main bathroom is downstairs and upstairs there is a sitting room with a TV, large bath and sofa and chairs plus a balcony. Considering their size, these are the best value rooms in the house.

Amenities in the room range from satellite TV, air conditioning, a writing desk, DVD player, safe, luggage room, mini-bar, and balcony (most rooms – some have a garden).

The style is very contemporary but not over the top and the beds extremely comfortable.
