Location

Winner of the Conde Nast award for one of the world's best new hotels 2005, this stunning resort is set in the hills above Bangkok and is a real hidden gem. The hotel is on the edge of Khao Yai National Park, a UNESCO world heritage site. Here you can explore hundreds of square kilometres of forested national park land with your expert guide, seeing elephant, macaques, deer, and wild pigs. If you’re very lucky, you may see a tiger!.

The temperature here is cooler than in Bangkok, particularly between November and
February. For those not wanting to spend all of their time in the Spa, relaxing beside the swimming pool, or indulging in the complimentary afternoon tea, there is also a world class championship golf course on-site.

Rooms

Uncompromising in style and comfort, the rooms in this resort (60 in total) are wonderfully designed and have some great touches, particularly the beds, made from bamboo logs. The Plantation View Rooms have a great outdoor balcony with daybed and a huge bath. The Horizon View Rooms are the same, but on the upper level. There are also 4 Terrace Suites available, like the other rooms, but with extra living space. If you really want something unique, and are looking for space, the 4 Tented Villas are absolutely out of this world. Larger than most apartments, with oversized daybed and oversized sunken Jacuzzi bath, they blend modern luxury with a safari feel. Finally there are some brand new pool villas which are also huge and very luxurious.

Spa

The Spa itself is extremely well designed and provides some of the highest quality therapists in Thailand. You could spend the whole day here, or simply come for an hour or two before going back to the pool to relax, while looking at the rolling hills in front of you. The high standard of the treatments here is hard to beat and very professional. The Swedish massage comes highly recommended; all massages offer the choice of 60 or 90 minutes, and various ‘wellness rituals’ are also on offer. Thai massage can be provided in the privacy of your own room, and for those staying in the Tented Villas, any massage can be provided there. For somewhere tranquil inland
