Location
This property opened in October 2008 has quickly risen to the top of the rankings for hotels in the Krabi area, and that’s a real accolade considering the high level of competition.
Set 30 minutes west of Krabi, the hotel occupies a lovely stretch of Tup Kaek beach looking out towards the islands of Lao Bileh, Koh Hong and behind them, majestic Yao Noi. With a host of activities on site and nearby and the shopping and restaurants of Ao Nang just 15 minutes away, the Amari Vogue offers the best of both worlds with an idyllic setting but action never too far away if you want it.
Rooms
The views aside, this hotel provides good quality modern Thai accommodation with large rooms starting at 50m 2 and going up to 82m2.
There is an exception to the modern Thai feel with the Royal Deluxe Rooms which are lavishly decorated in the traditional reds and golds of the ancient Thai Palace interiors. These rooms also benefit from a Jacuzzi bath and the Honeymoon Deluxe Rooms also have an outdoor Jacuzzi on the balcony.
For anyone wanting back to back pampering the hotel boasts 2 Spa Suites at 72-82m2 attached directly to the Spa with their own private balconies, small living area and private en-suite spa rooms a part of each unit.
Finally there are 4 Ocean Villas at 82m2 which have separate living rooms, large terrace and an outdoor plunge pool/ Jacuzzi. These rooms are highly recommended and are closest to the sea and pool.
All the rooms have Satellite TV, DVD, separate shower and bath tub, broadband, A/C, mini-bar and safe.
Spa
Run by Sivara, the quality and ambience here mirrors the standard in other Amari properties, particularly the Amari Watergate in Bangkok.
The treatment rooms are enclosed and in a solid construction rather than wood and bamboo and back to nature. As such, every comfort is afforded and each room, set over 3 floors, is spacious featuring a private steam room and large bathtub for soaking in, while the VIP Room also features a rain mist Vichy shower.
They offer a wide variety of massages and other body and facial treatments for men and women. For those looking for more extended pampering, treatment packages create the perfect combination of head-to-toe relaxation. As you’d expect, the therapists are highly trained and a 40 minute foot massage really hit the spot, giving relaxation during treatment and energy for a few hours afterwards.
Dining
There are 2 key dining options – The Lotus Restaurant near the lobby and Bellini, next to beach.
Bellini is Italian serving fresh local fish, seafood and fine imported specialities. They also make their own ice-cream on site and entertainment some nights adds to the atmosphere down by the beach.
Lotus serves breakfast buffet with a vast array of items, European and Asian. They make their own pastries, breads and croissants and even make their own jam!
At lunch and dinner, Lotus serves some of Thailand’s most iconic Thai dishes. They also serve some International favourites, a few with a twist like Barracuda ‘n Chips.
Other Activities
Children’s pool, fitness room, free shuttle bus to Nang, excursions to nearby islands, diving, kayaking and Thai cooking classes.
Final Word
The Amari is the last stop on this road and if you’re looking for a modern beach resort with a Thai style and flavour away from the hustle and bustle of Ao Nang and Krabi, then it will not disappoint.
Beach front position is all important and the views over to the iconic limestone islands nearby are just the icing on the cake.
