Location
Located near Dambulla, in the heart of Sri Lanka’s cultural triangle, stay at this excellent lakeside resort which the England cricket team have used as their base the last couple of tours they have undertaken.
The low rise resort is very spread out over 100 acres of grounds and is subsequently very tranquil and the lakeside position provides a different vista to the Western and
Southern beaches.
Situated close to the must-see Sigiriya (lion rock), which is a perfect place for your sunrise or sunset photos, the hotel also has easy access to the Dambulla cave temples and the town of Dambulla itself.
Rooms
The 92 rooms here are all individual detached bungalows; each having its own doorbell signifying the song of one of the 100 or so birds that are resident. Eco Lodges built of wattle-and-daub with thatched roofs and executive rooms of a more modern nature, are also available. All rooms have modern amenities such as air-conditioning, mini-bar and TV.
In the Samara restaurant enjoy Sri Lankan and international cuisine whilst overlooking the lake; alternatively dine at the healthy Wewe Kade Ayurvedic Restaurant. A swimming pool, tennis court and volleyball are all available.
Spa
The Ayurvedic Spa provides individual treatments, although we recommend you taking part in a 7, 10 or 14 day programme in order to fully benefit from Ayurveda. There are 2 Ayurveda centres, one near the main lobby and pool, and another at the end of the resort near the Eco Lodges, and built in the same thatched wattle-and-daub construction. This further facility is utterly charming and very peaceful.
Must-do: Have an amazingly relaxing reflexology treatment, overlooking the lake - you will simply melt away into another universe.
