Location

Like its sister hotel, Barberyn Reef, this resort is an holisitic wellness and healing centre. Located close to the beach near Weligama, a 4.5 hour journey from Colombo airport, stopping en route if you wish.

General

Weligama is not far from Koggala where you will see the famous stilted fishermen and also the Dutch fort city of Galle.

One of the highlights here is the fantastic view of the sea from the yoga and meditation area. The feeling here is definitely one of tranquility. There is a sea water swimming pool on site in a great position overlooking the sea and well away from the main building.

The restaurant serves Ayurvedic food. The cuisine is mostly vegetarian but chicken and fish dishes are also available.

 

Rooms

There are 45 rooms in total, classed as classic (17), deluxe (24), and deluxe studio (4). 9 rooms have air-conditioning though many guests prefer not to have air-conditioning as recommended with Ayurvedic treatments. There are no televisions in the rooms, allowing time for ‘proper' relaxation and reflection.

As with the Barberyn Reef, the rooms are simply but beautifully furnished in light wood and some have 4-posters draped in white linen. Most have balconies overlooking the sea.

Ayurveda

The resort welcomes single guests and larger groups alike. After your initial consultation with the resort doctor, you will be assigned an individual programme to follow for the duration of your stay. The consultation will take into account your lifestyle and personal circumstances as well as your physical health. Your treatment programme will include: oil body applications, head and face massages, herbal baths, as well as freshly prepared herbal medicine. Many conditions of
modern day living can be treated and we will be happy to provide you with further details and a more extensive list of treatments if you wish.

Yoga and meditation (sometimes with a Buddhist monk) are included here, as at the Barberyn Reef.
