Location

Accessible only by boat, the Coconut Lagoon lies 95 km from Cochin international airport. It is reached by a 10 minute boat journey from Kavanatinkara, which is 10km from Kottayam.

General

The start of your journey here gives you the idea of what a special place Coconut Lagoon is. An eco-friendly resort, it has won several awards, including national eco-friendly and heritage awards and state pollution control awards.

Everything here is recycled. Let 1 of the 3 friendly naturalists on site show you some of the 40 species of bird, 53 species of fish, 3 species of turtle, and 85 species of butterfly (in the 2 butterfly gardens).

Enjoy Kerala cuisine and seafood specialities, take time out in the swimming pool, or
enjoy the spectacular boat races which take place in this area in August.

Rooms

There are 3 categories of rooms here: Heritage bungalows, Heritage mansions, and
Private pool villas.

There are no televisions in the rooms, in keeping with the resort, but there is one in
the recreation centre. All rooms have air-conditioning and, with the exception of the
pool villas, all have open-air bathrooms.

Spa

The Ayurvedic Centre has been awarded ‘green leaf' status by the government of Kerala. Enjoy the gorgeous view over paddy fields as you enter the centre. There are 6 treatment rooms here and an on-site Ayurvedic doctor. Many treatments exist, for both health and beauty, including massages, and shirodhara (where oil is dripped onto the ‘'third eye'' or forehead). Yoga, kalari and meditation take place twice a day.

The secret of Coconut Lagoon is celebrating the simple joys of life. For lovers of nature this place is hard to beat…
