Location

The River House opened in 2003 and has the perfect blend of tranquillity and location
by the river. It is only a few minutes by car from the centre of Chiang Rai town, with
its night market (free transport from the hotel) while maintaining a quiet location and
uncluttered resort. The River House has very personal service, largely due to the small amount of rooms that it caters for. The whole atmosphere is very relaxed. The location enables you to visit Myanmar (Burma), local hill tribes, and the Golden Triangle. In November, the Loy Kratong festival takes place, when the river is illuminated with floating candles and flowers which are floated down the river. (Floating sins away).

Rooms

You would scarcely believe that there are only 36 rooms here – the hotel feels a lot
bigger but the space is used cleverly. We recommend the suites, which have a Jacuzzi bath and outdoor day bed. All rooms have television and stereo.

Spa

The Spa itself is small but very well appointed. There are 2 treatments rooms
overlooking the river and they are both semi open air, with high ceilings and almost
completely open to the river providing a very nice backdrop for your treatment. Each
room has its own deep plunge pool and rainfall shower – one to cleanse beforehand,
and one to soak in afterwards. Some treatments can be taken elsewhere in the resort – our favourite being the foot massage by the pool.

With the Golden Triangle only an hour away and the night market in Chiang Rai just
down the road this hotel is a great place to explore Chiang Rai and its surroundings. If the thought of getting in a car does not appeal, take a boat from outside the hotel to whisk you to the hill tribes, combined with some elephant riding or simply relax and let the attentive staff pamper you. As there are only 36 rooms here, this hotel rarely feels busy.
